| ROCK AGAINST BUSH 1- Comp (Fat Wreck Chords 2004) 26 tracks on this cd , some of it has never been released before or are rare. A lot of extras like videos and other candy on the extra dvd. This is a record that's jumping around in different kinds of musical genres. Skatepunk, sometimes almost country sounding, there are tracks with softer rock music, not just a punk comp but of course there are rawpunk on high speed at it to. But there are even tracks with acoustic guitar almost sing/songwriter style, nearly ballad. It sometimes feels a bit uneven because f the musical mix. Besides that the sound quality on the record is quite good. But it is not a record made for the great sound I think it is more of a reaction from a lot of bands against Bush and his administration. Songs I like are "Anti-Flag:The school of assassins" sounds to me a little like the early British punkscene sometimes, a nice pretty aggressive thing. "The Offspring:Baghdad" at first when I heard it I was thinking of DK, but these ones as usual knows what they are doing. "Ministry:No W" a hell of speed and angry to, typical Ministry. "Jello Biafra with D.O.A:Thatīs progress" do I need to say something. Lot of more good bands are appearing on this like Sum 41, Pennywise, NOFX, The Ataris and many more. |
